D-Glucuronic acid

The biological building block for Hyaluronic acid and Vitamn C

D-Glucuronic acid (G-3600) is a key intermediate and very basic building block in the biosynthesis of hyaluronic acid in the skin. Hyaluronic acid (H-3450) itself is a sugar polymer that is associated with the special ability to bind considerable amounts of water and thereby functioning as a major water reserve in the skin. Moreover, D-glucuronic acid is a precursor of vitamin C, the most important detoxifying agent in both plants and animals. For these reasons, D-glucuronic acid is used as cosmetic ingredient in a wide variety of moisturizing and protective skin treatment creams.
