Aminoethylphosphonic acid

Pure Enantiomers of Aminoethylphosphonic acid, Ala(P)

Biosynth chemists re-designed the synthesis of both the D and L enantiomer of Ala(P) to provide a continuous high purity supply of these relatively simple, but nonetheless important, parts of peptide antibiotics and other inhibitors.

(S)-(+)-1-Aminoethylphosphonic acid
J-100032
Synonyms: D-(+)-1-Aminoethylphosphonic acid, D-AEP or D-Ala(P)

(R)-(-)-1-Aminoethylphosphonic acid
J-100031
Synonyms: L-(-)-1-Aminoethylphosphonic acid, briefly L-AEP or L-Ala(P)
L-Ala(P) is a building block, for instance, for AEP peptides such as the antibiotic Alafosfalin.

About Alafosfalin: Biosynth also offers the antibiotic Alafosfalin for cell culture use (Cat.No. A-4625). Alafasofalin (also termed L-Alanyl-L-Aminoethylphosphonicacid) is an antibiotic, designed as an inhibitor of bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. It is active against a wide range of bacteria. A comparison with commonly used antibiotics such as Ampicillin or Tetracyclin indicates that Alafosfalin is superior to these agents against most Gram-negative bacteria. Resistance to Alafosfalin was found to be low (0-5%) in Gram-negative, but somewhat higher in Gram-positive bacteria, as seen in clinical isolates.
